I have doubts about ESIC benefits. In terms of contributions, after obtaining an ESI card, employees can receive only medical benefits. Additionally, employees will be entitled to compensatory and other benefits only after nine months of contributions.
Is this correct...? Na...!
Thanks.

You will be eligible for medical treatment benefits immediately upon receiving the ESI card. You will be covered immediately for accident benefits, and life risk will also be covered. In case of sickness, you will receive ESI leaves immediately. However, sickness benefits will be available after 6 months.

Understanding ESI Benefits and Contribution Periods
For different ESI benefits, conditions vary. One can avail of benefits in the "Benefit period" if one has contributed during the "Contribution period." From April 1 to September 30 and October 1 to March 31 are the contribution and benefit periods. To enjoy sickness benefits, one needs to pay contributions for at least 90 days in the corresponding contribution period. Additionally, there is a limit to the benefits.
If you can get ESIS, i.e., IMO (Insurance Medical Officer), to refer you to private medical services, you can claim the expenses incurred. In an extreme emergency, you may seek services from a private practitioner for the shortest possible period, and then you can apply for reimbursement, which may or may not be considered. If you can justify the expenses, you can get reimbursement.

ESIC Coverage for Contract Workers
I am currently working on a project with a company. Our project today is at the Maruti Suzuki plant. However, I am facing an ESIC problem. The issue is that we are using a hydra on a contract basis. The hydra driver is not our member but a contractor. Therefore, I am unsure if he is covered under the ESIC Act. If yes, please send me a copy of the act or inform me about the act and rules.
Thank you.

Please contact his contractor and inquire whether they have registered him with ESIC or not because he is also eligible for this. It is important to note that he receives his salary from his contractor, who is directly responsible for these matters.
Thank you.
