I would really like to apply for TechIOSH membership but was wondering about the benefits of TechIOSH status and whether it is worth spending the money on it. Does a person use the letters after their name, and is it recognized by employers? Does anyone have it and have any experiences, good or bad?

I am not a full-time H&S professional. I am a project person. I have always worked considering the H&S of my team members in my projects. Looking at my passion, my company has given me the additional responsibility of EHS. Although I have been actively involved in H&S since 2004, I have not come across anyone who is Techiosh. I am sure nobody knows about this as well in the Nasik - Maharashtra area. If you can share what the fees are and what the syllabus is, probably one can evaluate. Request to please keep on sharing.

I think in India, companies are just focused on qualifications, which, according to statutory requirements, are limited to a Diploma or Degree in any stream of Engineering plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Safety from a State Technical Education Board recognized institute. Any other courses, like the one you mentioned about Techiosh, in India, companies will consider as an additional qualification. However, if you don't have the basic qualification, no one will even consider it.
Nowadays, a lot of MNCs are giving importance to safety and looking for potential people where these types of qualifications may help. I am sure this is the current scenario in Indian industries. This is an HR forum, basically; there are a lot of HR people here. I am sure 99% of them may not even know about this course. So, a condition that demands this qualification for a job is quite far off.
I just searched the net and found the following link. You might have come across this. However, please let us know more details about this course as Mr. Sudhir said.

I appreciate your interest in implementing EHS standards in your workplace. How many of the engineers/supervisors are currently doing this? It's amazing that you have been part of the EHS team since 2004.
Mr. Dipil has already provided a link that seems to be related to Techiosh, an International certificate/membership. To apply for Techiosh, one needs any HSE degree or Nebosh certification. Unfortunately, I don't have more details at the moment, but I will definitely share once I gather all the necessary information about Techiosh.
Keep in touch.

Yes, in India, they are not required to have such kinds of certifications. However, for those looking for jobs overseas, having a Techiosh certification/membership can greatly enhance their job prospects. Techiosh certification is mostly required for managerial-level positions.
Once you obtain this certification/membership, you will be able to log in to the IOSH website to access updated EHS-related information. Additionally, they will invite you to EHS conferences to help improve your skills, and you will receive all the latest updates via email and postal mail.
I also have the same link that you shared with us. I will inform you once I have the exact details. Keep in touch...

Joining IOSH Membership: Is It Worth It?
The intention of joining a membership body is to stay updated with developments in the field. IOSH (www.iosh.co.uk), based in the UK, is a professional body known for its commitment and work in the HSE field. It is well-known globally and has a good reputation. Please see the website to know more.
https://www.iosh.co.uk/Membership/Become-a-member.aspx
The link for membership is attached above. The membership fee is currently GBP 148, which is roughly INR 14,500. All new members are welcomed initially as Affiliate Members. The cost for your first year of membership is £148. Once you've joined, IOSH will review your qualifications and experience. If appropriate, they will recommend that you're transferred to Associate, Technical, or Graduate membership. If the committee ratifies this recommendation, no additional costs for subscription are incurred. (Please note that it takes some time to hear from the committee on your status. In my case, it was 3 months; maybe things are faster now). NEBOSH IGC can get you TechIOSH status. Every Technical Member has to maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Hope the above is clear on the steps for gaining Tech IOSH status.
Should You Join IOSH?
The million-dollar question: Should you join or not? The answer is YES & NO. I was a TechIOSH member for 3 years. The benefit was that I could highlight to recruiters abroad that I was a TechIOSH member, which gave me a certain leverage over many who did not have any kind of affiliation. Also, I used to maintain CPD for GradIOSH status. To maintain CPD, I would update myself regularly and had access to much information and HSE-relevant material from the IOSH site.
The drawback is only the pricing you need to shell out year after year.
I suggest joining only if your organization requires it, you are on a job hunt and have been asked for professional membership, or you plan to advance significantly in HSE, considering it as an investment.
Hope to have answered all your queries.
