Navigating Honesty and Manipulation in the Corporate World: Insights and Challenges - CiteHR

No Tags Found!

There are two types of people in the corporate world: people who manipulate and people who are honest. Whereas people who are manipulative are thought to be smarter, and people who are honest are thought to be as dumb. They don't get promoted or move up the corporate ladder easily as they are the ones who are taken for granted for being good people. So, the management knows that they can be explained by giving a reason or an excuse. On the other hand, a person who is manipulative will not stay if they don't get promoted or recognized, so they get promoted.

When this kind of thinking exists in the corporate world, a person cannot always remain good and say it's okay. So, what will they do? Either they will leave their job or they will fight against the system. If that's also not enough, then the only option left is to become manipulative themselves and succeed in life for a shorter period of time. This is just to show people around that being good doesn't mean they can't change, but rather that they are giving time to the other person hoping that they will change.

But when that doesn't happen, it's time to draw the battle lines and become manipulative to explain to the other person in their own style. Unless a person suffers, they don't realize what they are doing wrong.

Views and suggestions are welcomed.

Hi Meenu,

Completely agree with your points because I know the suffering happening with me right now. People are taking us for granted only because of our right attitude, or you can say, because of our honesty. Politics exist everywhere, especially in the corporate world when you are close to the senior person or management. Every person in the corporate world is like this, the system needs change.

Thank you.
