I have come across a very absurd problem. We make use of Time watch software to track the attendance of the employees. I have noticed that there is an error in the timings of the person who runs it and furnishes the data. For example, have a look at the attached sheet. The first data was taken when the software was run on 27 Jan and the second was when on 2 Feb. Obviously times are changed, but when I tried to run the software yesterday, it showed me the timings which were as on 2 Feb.
Now my point is how is it possible? Either the true times were those of 2 Feb only, then why on 27 Jan it showed wrong? And which out of them is right? Please suggest, can such modifications be done??

which software you are using, and time can be changed once it is loaded into software. else if same person punches the card two times then there can be conflict

Thanks, Ravi, for replying. We are using TimeWatch. The person didn't swipe the card twice as the person left by that time and didn't come back. I am surprised how one software run thrice gives different times. In my example sheet, it can be noticed that times are changed. So how did the person manage to do so, and this time is changed only for the person who runs this software.
My point is: Can changes be saved permanently as I ran it yesterday, but it showed me changed timings? Which of the two timings is correct?

i dont know abt timewatch but ive used sap hr so cant tell u exactly how it can be done ,, by the way this can also be some system bug :icon9::icon9:

Hi Neha,
Data can be changed by another person authorized to access the database, known as the administrator.
In my previous organization, we used Time Spain Software, and access was available to four individuals.
We can adjust the content accessible to other users of the software through settings. Additionally, we have the capability to increase or decrease the number of users.

Thanks Pankaj for your advice. I badly needed 1... So is it possible that the timings once changed will get changed permanently.... as even after 3 months its showing me changed timings

My suggestion is, "you have to take a backup of your data on your system on a monthly basis and save it for future reference." Complain about data manipulation to the higher authority or your immediate boss. Surely, the IT department will catch the person who manipulates the data.

I agree with you, Pankaj. I had already forwarded the complaint to the higher authorities, but the mess is when I challenged the data of Jan, Feb, March, April, in which sometimes, like in my example sheet, have been changed. The software was run again, and we found that the data which came is the changed one. It was unbelievable because I thought that the person modifies it while importing to Excel and then sends it to me, but in the original too, it was changed.
I hope I'm able to explain what's on my mind.

Yes, it is possible to change the data in the original. Don't allow anybody to take the backup for you – do it yourself. If you don't know how to do it, then learn from them. That will help you to learn the basics of that software.

Hey, thanks Pankaj for helping me out. At least I got some confidence. Having run that again, I had a sleepless night. The problem is that the person who runs it is my senior, so I can't ask her to give me that. So, whatever Excel sheet she sends, I have to trust that. But when I saw differences in two Excel sheets, and in her timings only, I started suspecting. Every month such changes were there. To my surprise, when we ran it on a fresh basis, it showed changes only. :(

Hi Neha, There are might be chances of manually changes has made in the software, if you are using the same you have easily seen that changes.

The only way I know of to keep track of this would be to take random reports on different days as you did. The differing timings on January 27th and February 2nd are evidence of tampering.
