Hi Sheena,
I want to know about welfare. Can we refund the welfare contribution or not? We have to deposit a total of 15 Rs for welfare on both the employer and employee sides. However, there are no benefits for employees and employers. When an employee resigns or leaves, they do not gain anything, similar to PF contributions.
Please help me.

Dear Sheena,
Well and wishing you the same. I would like to inform you that once you deduct the welfare fund, you cannot refund it to the employee. According to the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, we have to deduct Rs. 5 from the employees who have worked more than 30 days in a calendar year, and Rs. 10 is to be added as an employer contribution, making the total amount Rs. 15.00, which has to be remitted before the end of January every year.
Apart from this contribution, we have to remit the unpaid accumulation amount and fine amount that was deducted as per disciplinary proceedings to the labor board.
I am hereby furnishing the benefits provided by the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board in Tamil Nadu:
01. Tailoring institutes: The wife and sisters of the employee can join and undergo training for a period of one year with a stipend of Rs. 80.00 per month. After examination, the first and second-rank candidates will be given a free tailoring machine from the board.
02. Running children care center for the age group of 2 to 5. They will be provided with milk, eggs, fruits, and will be taught maths, English, and Tamil. Medical checkups will be conducted for them once every two months.
03. Running library in selected areas
04. Tourist bungalow at tourist places with cheaper rental rates
05. Educational fund for Medicine, engineering, law, and school-going students
06. Funeral benefits
07. Special beds for cancer patients in government hospitals
It would be better if you could approach or send a letter to the labor welfare boards requesting them to send you the details of the benefits provided by them.
