I am quite confused with your reply on this forum, please help me. My concern was about the prefix suffix rule. To be very clear, I am going for a vacation from 1st to 9th October. During these days, I have 4 days as weekends, i.e., 1st & 2nd October and 8th and 9th October 2011. I have applied for leave from 3rd October to 7th October as these are the only working days in the timeframe of my vacation. I am good to join my duties from 10th October, but that day is a declared US federal holiday by the company. Now, my HR tells me that all 10 days will be counted as leaves, as per the prefix suffix law.

So, as per the rule of prefix and suffix, how many days of leave should be counted? Please specify a number.

Thanks in advance,

Venkat

There is no law for suffix/prefix; it's a rule for certain kinds of leaves and is always defined by your company's HR, which then becomes the company policy. Now, your leave period has become sandwiched. I suggest you discuss this with your HR to understand the policy better.
