Dear Friends,
Our factory has changed its name. So, do we need to change its name on the factory license as well? If yes, what is the procedure and which forms are required to be submitted? Will we have to apply for a new license, or will they amend our existing one?
Please suggest.

What exactly is a name change? Is there a change in the board of directors? Will there be a totally new management? Are there any changes expected in the number of employees and the horsepower being used? The factory license is based on the number of employees and horsepower engaged. Consider these factors and apply to the factory inspectorate. Contact your local factory inspector; they will help you.

Actually, the name of our company has been changed from XXX Company India Pvt. Ltd. to XXX India Pvt. Ltd. Also, the occupier has changed; however, there is no change in the manpower and horsepower being used.

Dear,
You cannot change the name of your company at your own wish. The company name is changed through the orders of the court, and the registrar of companies is also one of the parties in that order.
You can write a letter to the Chief Inspector of Factories along with the court order for the change of name, a copy of the original license for the amendment, a challan of the amendment fee duly deposited in the State Bank of India, along with the concerned form where you are required to mention the name of the occupier and manager.
