Hi friends, please clarify for me the difference between an offer letter and an appointment letter. The issue I am facing is that I received my appointment letter dated four months after the date of the offer letter. I have raised this concern with both HR and my manager, and they have informed me that it is not an issue.

Additionally, I have not received my salary slip. When I inquired about this with my immediate boss, he mentioned that they will not provide me with a salary slip.

I would appreciate any suggestions on what steps to take next. Thank you.

Understanding Offer Letters and Appointment Letters

Generally, an Offer Letter consists of the CTC and the date of joining locations that are offered by the employer to the selected candidates. There is also a time limit given in the Offer Letter to accept it; otherwise, it stands canceled. Offer Letters are provided before joining. It depends on the candidate whether he/she accepts it or not. The Offer Letter serves as an offer for joining.

An Appointment Letter consists of the details of terms and conditions, job description, exit policy, etc. It is given at the time of joining or at maximum within 15 days.

Regarding the salary slip, it is your right to ask your employer to provide you with your salary slip.

Dear Amod, First of all, thank you for clarifying my doubts. As you said, I had already asked my immediate boss for a salary slip, and in reply, he straightforwardly said that they don't provide the salary slip.

Job Switching Concerns

Now my question is, I got my appointment letter but 4 months after the date of joining, and the date is also 4 months after the offer letter date. Now, I do not have any proof about my salary and also the date when I was employed.

If I want to switch jobs, what should I do? Please suggest if you can.

Regards,
