Tax Implications of Allowances for IT Support Staff
I am with an IT company where the Technical Support staff is provided with a Shift Allowance. They are also entitled to a Travel Allowance of ₹15 per km and a Food Allowance of ₹150 for each day of working in a shift other than the General shift. I would like to know the tax implications of the same and how to claim if these allowances are to be made non-taxable.
Looking forward to a reply from an expert.

Food and Conveyance Allowances
Food allowances can be given as food coupons like Sodexo or Dominos, which are tax-free. Alternatively, you can submit the food bill on a daily basis as an expenditure.
For conveyance, you have to submit the petrol bill or in the form of driver salary or taxi bill as an expenditure.
If you are not providing these items, then the allowances are taxable.
