Dear All,

I am working in a construction company posted in South India. I need your suggestions and clarification regarding the applicability of contract labour laws to employees working on company rolls. Here, the labour enforcement officer is asking to maintain all records that come under the labour act, including those for company employees. Is this applicable?

With regards,
Mayank

If your company employs contract employees ( employees through a contractor), you should ensure legal compliance with 'The Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, 1970'

Dear Sir,

In addition to the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, the other labor laws applicable to the employees directly employed by you are also applicable to the workmen employed through a contractor.
