Hi Samuel,

Regarding Gratuity, we consider the number of years of service rounded. For example, if an employee has 5.4 years of service, we consider it as 5 years. Similarly, if an employee has 5.7 years of service, we treat it as 6 years. Therefore, this Excel sheet will not be helpful for calculating the Gratuity amount accurately as it provides incorrect calculations resulting in an excess amount.

Regards, Vidyaranya.

What if the company rejects to pay gratuity to the employee who has left the company? He has been deducting his gratuity amount from his salary when he was working with the company.

What does he have to do to get his gratuity and what is the procedure?

Please provide inputs.

Thanks,
Vaibhav P.

I am working with a private bank since February 2007. Now, I got another offer from a different bank, and they agree to the notice period of 3 months. So, I will be joining there in January 2012, i.e., I will complete 4 years and 11 months. My question is, am I eligible for gratuity, and if my previous company is not ready to pay me the gratuity, what can I do for the same? Please help me in this regard.
