Dear All,

Please provide me with an approximate idea of the salary expectation that an HR Manager should ideally quote while looking for a job. For example, how much should an HR Manager with 7 years of experience, currently drawing a salary of 8 lacs per annum, expect?

Please reply!

Regards,
Dhanesh

Dear Danesh,

The expectation of salary during an interview depends on the following points:

1. The reason for a job change should be very clear.
2. What you are looking for in a new job (such as challenges, role, responsibilities, designation, recognition, compensation, etc.).
3. The salary expectation should always be quoted in a range, for example, 8.0 to 8.6 lakhs.
4. Try to discuss the salary at the last stage when you come to know that you are almost selected for the post. At that stage, you can even increase your bar, but do guess it very well before you put your final consent.
5. How well you fit their requirements and how confident and bold you were during the interview will determine the package offered by the company.
6. I have personal experience of getting a 50% rise just by studying the opportunity very carefully and preparing well based on the above points.

I hope this will help you draw some conclusions regarding your expectations.

Jitu
