Tips for Effective Administration

Plan ahead, start with the budget, keep an eye on expenses, delegate, and follow up. Separate the important from the urgent and delegate the urgent if possible to focus on the important. Be responsive and keep stakeholders updated even if it's a work in progress. Use Excel extensively, prepare checklists for repetitive work, and keep databases updated. Convene regular meetings with the admin staff and keep a tab on the progress of various tasks/projects.
