Dear All,
I am working in a company and joined here in June 2008. As per the appointment letter, I am supposed to receive a confirmation letter after the completion of 6 months, i.e., in Dec. '08. However, I didn't receive that.
In Feb. '09, I asked our HR about my job confirmation, but they informed me that due to the recession, it was not the right time for confirmation, so I remained quiet.
Suddenly, in Nov. '09 (after 1 1/2 years), our HR department insisted that I take confirmation even though the recession was ongoing. I refused to accept the confirmation as they were offering it without revising my salary (as I had joined the company for the same salary I had in my previous job).
I discussed this issue with my HOD and clearly stated that since I had been working for the same salary for 2 1/2 years (including my previous job), I couldn't accept the confirmation unless my salary was revised. I mentioned that I would only accept the confirmation if my salary was revised; otherwise, I would continue under the same conditions.
According to our appointment letter, I should give a 1-week notice during the probationary period and a 2-month prior notice after confirmation in writing.
Now, my question is whether I should give a 2-month notice or a 1-week notice since I have not accepted my job confirmation letter.
Dear friends, please help me clear this doubt.
Best Regards, Prashanth.

Dear prashanthbs,
Normally, any employee, after serving 220 working days in an organization, will be considered a full-time employee even if the organization has not issued a confirmation letter. I am not entirely certain about the exact number of days. In your case, you should provide them with a week's notice.
Thank you.
