I manage a placement company and one of our client wants a special services related to hiring of candidates.
As per the requirement given by the clients we need to screen candidate on phone and if short listed would call them for personal & technical written test at our premises.
Then as per the criteria set client would evaluate those candidates and would call them at clients site for Final/line manager's interview.
Here.., I have few questions where I need your help –

- How much we should charge client for each candidate coming in for test
- Format of the contract
- out of the short listed lot (after written test) if client offers any one and that person joins – what should be our charges here ( as we have already taken some amount from client for having its 1st interview & test at our premises)

Please don't charge anything in advance. If a person is selected for the job, then only charge. Because the candidates who aren't selected and you charge them for the initial round feel cheated and depressed. Due to these kinds of practices, candidates are losing faith in consultancies.
There are many consultancies that don't charge anything directly to candidates; they get paid from the client. If a candidate is selected, they will happily pay the amount you request.
I don't know how much it means to you, but this is my personal experience that I wanted to share.

You cannot charge the client for any candidate coming for a test at your premises. It would be best to conduct a thorough screening over the phone to ensure that the second round/Technical Test round includes only the relevant candidates. However, the ultimate goal is a successful placement, so, prima facie, this service (Telephonic round/Technical Test) should not be billed to the client.
The only exception is probably in the PSU/Govt. sector where consultants are enlisted for screening services/Response management, especially when the screening process spans multiple locations or remote areas.
You could, however, negotiate a higher percentage in your contract as the effort and time required are significantly more in this type of process.
