Dear Jagdish,
Ask your friend to get the PF amount transferred to the new PF account if he is joining another company - it is advisable.
If he intends to withdraw, please inform him that he will only receive the EPF amount, comprising both his and the employer's share, and not the FPS amount of the employer's contribution.
The procedure is as follows:
Procedure to withdraw the PF amount
Step 1: You can contact the local PF office and collect Form 19 and 10C or download the withdrawal forms, Form 19 and 10C, NSSN FORM from the EPFO website.
Step 2: Fill out all the details about yourself and provide your savings bank account information in the forms.
Step 3: Open a savings bank account, preferably with a nationalized bank, and mention the account number in forms 19 and 10C. Also, attach a photocopy of the first page of the passbook showing the bank account number and branch location.
Step 4: Send the completed forms with enclosures to the previous employer for forwarding to the PF office.
Step 5: Obtain attestation from the bank manager of your savings account for direct submission to the PF office.
Step 6: Send the forms to the PF office where your previous employer has accounts via registered post.
You will receive the money in your bank account within 45 days.

Hi, I have a query regarding the PF and Gratuity. I left an organization after 4.5 years and joined a new company. I want to transfer my PF fund from the previous company's PF account to the new company's PF account. What do I have to do for this? Both companies are cooperative. Furthermore, in the previous company, as I worked for 4.5 years, can I avail the gratuity as well? Please suggest.

Dear Umesh,
My advice is to get the PF amount transferred to your present employment since it has many benefits in the long run. If you are not currently employed, you may transfer it whenever you get a new job. If you are very particular about withdrawal, you can do so - nothing will prevent you.

Dear Kranthikumar,
You cannot withdraw partially. Instead, you can avail advance from PF on completion of 5 years. The FPS contribution of the employer only cannot be withdrawn (in the final withdrawal case only) if you have only 6 months of service. If you cross six months, you can withdraw both EPF and FPS amounts.

Dear Kranthikumar,
You will get the entire amount of your contribution and the employer's contribution in the EPF account, with interest as of the current date. In the case of FPS (Family Pension Scheme), you will receive a proportionate amount only upon withdrawal, as it is designated for pension purposes only.
Thank you.
