Dear All,
I am working in an IT firm. In order to relieve employees from their workload and to have an interactive session, I have planned to conduct a quiz competition. So please answer my query related to this:
1) How to conduct—instead of forming a team, can it be conducted individually so that each and every employee will be recognized and awarded a gift, but in a team, it shouldn't be individual?
2) If individually, then—how to select one person when many of them will know the answer?
Waiting for the reply.
Regards,

Dear Shalini,
First of all, make a proper planning and identify the motive of conducting such events. Generally, a quiz comes out best when organized in teams (you can take a team of 2 participants also for more recognition of individuals). Such activities enhance team spirit, bonding, and belongingness.
To rectify the number of participants, you must organize a preliminary round first, where you can share an objective/subjective written quiz paper sheet and select the top bunch for the Quiz finale.
For the gifts, you can give trophies, certificates, or a quiz book.
If you still want to organize a quiz for individuals only, then go for preliminary round project-wise and select the top performers of different projects for the final competition.

Dear Ms. Shalini,
As a part of May Day celebrations, I have conducted a quiz competition for our employees. The following outlines the ways in which I organized the quiz competition.
I categorized the questions into four different categories as follows: 1) General knowledge, 2) Science, 3) Cine, 4) Sports, each with 4 multiple choices. Three members formed a team, and each team was asked a maximum of 5 questions in all the categories, totaling around 20 questions per team. Each question carried 10 marks, and negative marking was allowed for incorrectly answered questions, with a deduction of -5 points. For correctly answered questions, 5 marks were awarded.
Finally, small sports cups were awarded to the first and second prize winners. The audience was actively involved by receiving immediate gifts for correctly answering questions.
I hope these guidelines will assist you in conducting the quiz competition. For any assistance, please feel free to contact me.
