Hi,

I am Khaja Muhaideen, working as an HR manager in a garment factory in Coimbatore. I have some doubts about young labor policies, specifically regarding employees aged 14 to 18 years. Who is considered young labor under the Tamil Nadu labor law, especially in garment industries? What rules should be followed under the young labor law? Could anyone kindly provide an explanation for this question?

Thank you.

Dear Young means either a child or an adolescent. A child is someone who has not completed 14 years of age, while an adolescent is someone who has completed 15 years of age but is less than 18 years old.

Regarding the terms and conditions of employment for young persons, you can refer to Chapter VII from Section 67 to 77.

Thank you,
