Dear Seniors,

I need help from your side. I am an HR professional at one of the IT Private Limited companies. Next month, there is an election. I just want to know if the company has to provide compulsory leave to employees. Could you please guide me on this matter?

Thank you.

Hello Bhrugisha,

Yes, you have to. We haven't yet begun to value work time like they do in the USA. There, employees are only given permission to cast their vote, then they have to return to work and work.

If your employees are from different localities in a large city where the voting dates could be different from one locality to another, you could first get their residence details and then act. This avoids everyone taking election leave on the same day too :-)

Regards,
TS
