Hi,
I need advice for my following concern. I had resigned from a company 2 years back. At that time, they had given me a full and final settlement letter stating that I need to pay Rs 23,673 for some dues. After I pay, they would complete the closing formalities, such as providing me with the Relieving Letter and Form 16 for the year 2006-07.
I am ready to pay the amount now to obtain my relieving letter and Form 16 because I have to file my return, which is already overdue. I do not want to argue or cause any issues, but simply send the money and receive my documents.
Please provide me with a draft sample letter that I should send along with the cheque of Rs 23,673 so that everything I need is requested, and all is settled from my side by sending the amount.
Thank you,
Ramesh

Hi,
I suggest preparing a cheque and a letter referencing the F & F letter, mentioning that you are paying the said amount and would like to receive a relieving letter and Form 16. Talk to the HR of your earlier company and request them to have both ready. Submit the cheque and collect your documents. That will resolve the matter once and for all.
Regards,
Harshad

Hi,
Thank you for the advice; I really appreciate it. I would like the "wordings" to be used in the letter sent along with the cheque. "Wordings" mean I am trying to understand and want to know how to use terminology like "final settlement dues," "close my employee account," "relieving letter," etc. These are typical words so that I don't miss out on anything while asking and clarifying.
Thanks,
Ramesh
