Hi , You could draft your career towards both the skills . You can become a Technical Recruiter ( BE + HR ) . There is good career path for Technical Recruiters in future . Regards, Sweta

Hi Sweta,

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I have not done any HR course, but I don't want to work as a technical recruiter. My boss told me that I can perform better in HR because it is very challenging in IT.

Hi Pallavi,

First, you should understand that HR is a challenging field that requires communication and people management skills, along with the related HR qualifications and experience. Since you have a B.E. degree, you can consider pursuing a distance learning course in HR (P.G) while working. This will greatly benefit you. However, before taking this step, you should evaluate whether you have an inclination towards this field or not. This decision is yours to make.

HR is not so much of an education-based job; it is more of a skill-based job. It requires good people skills. If you think you have that and can manage the staff, handle their queries, and effectively convey management decisions, whether good or bad, to employees, then you are a good fit for HR.

If you have cultivated good programming skills, then I think you should pursue your own field as it offers broad exposure and growth opportunities. You may not like coding, but you can explore testing and QA profiles. A system/business analyst's profile could also be suitable for you.

Hi Pallavi,

Basically, you are technically qualified with a BE in Computer. Looking at today's IT industry requirements, you will have a better career if you pursue a field in IT, which typically offers higher pay than HR. If you are determined to enter HR, I would suggest completing a PG course or diploma in HR. This will not only enhance your knowledge but also allow you to handle HR activities more professionally compared to having a BE in Computer.

Furthermore, with your HR qualifications, your daily decisions and management advice will be more effective. Make a rational decision.

All the best and good luck.

HR is basically a job that suits a person who has good serving abilities, a "willingness to help" kind of attitude. However, most HR professionals fall short of this, which is why in today's world, many HRs are disliked by employees. Very few employees understand that HR is just doing their duty.

I would suggest that if you are strong enough as a person and do not get too personal with management-related commitments and decisions, you should go for it. Having a BE degree only improves your technical skills but will not help you grow as an HR; HR is a completely different profession.

I would also like to share my example. I am a BCA graduate and worked for a top MNC for 2 years until I realized my potential and desire to work with management. I pursued my MBA in HR and am confident about the challenges. Both fields are of different interest; certainly, I was not greatly fascinated by the technical work I was handling.

I wish you all the best, and I believe it is a good opportunity. Think, decide, and go for it. If you feel unsure, it's better to look for a technical job.

1) In the beginning e’thing will be dry. Both fields u should work hard.
Technical- to get a job n to perform better for career growth.
HR- u’ve already got the job and to work for a specialization(SAP or something other) for career growth.

2) But after 2 yrs of exp. the HR filed growth may be Multiples but Technical field growth will be multiples definitely may be exponential also.

3) Iam giving my example only, I did my B.E. in ECE. I’ve not worked for 3 yrs after my B.E. due to some personal reasons. After that when I’ve searched for the job neither I treated as a fresher nor experienced. Then I searched for non-IT jobs. In that hunt I got the opportunity to work as a HR. I utilized the opportunity to settle my career anyhow, n working from past 6 months.i’m happy n have job satisfaction. But at end of corner of my heart, I’ve a feeling of(1%) that I’ve lost my career in technical side. Where I’m working now, the company is based on Electronics only. Whenever I’ll mingle with my co-employee-engineers, I’ll feel that more. Im trying to jump to the technical side here only, that is other issue. I think u don’t have such type of problems of gap, career losing n financial troubles.

Think wisely, the best decision can be taken by YOU only coz u can judge urself better than others. Don’t be confused and choose a right path by considering some factors- current availability, future settlement, time and money.
