Dear All,

In the recent past (June 08), we have successfully conducted the Cite HR Meet in Bangalore. I have proposed and initiated similar meets across Karnataka to assist HR Professionals in other cities. As part of this initiative, we planned a program in Mysore; however, the response has been poor, leading to disappointment among the volunteers working diligently to organize the CHR Meet in Mysore.

There are numerous events happening across India for professionals in various fields such as IT, Admin, Finance, and Project Management. Conversely, there are very few programs, if any, tailored specifically for HR Professionals. Unfortunately, the programs designed for HR Professionals tend to be unsuccessful due to a lack of awareness about ongoing activities or a disinterest in staying updated on current HR trends.

While there are programs for HR professionals conducted by institutions like IIM Bangalore and an informal group of Trainers organizing monthly free programs, the participation from HR professionals, even on platforms like Cite HR, has been decreasing. The once vibrant discussions on various topics within Cite HR have dwindled.

There are individuals offering programs exclusively for HR professionals at a very nominal cost, yet there seems to be limited interest in these opportunities, even when they are free.

Do HR professionals lack the thirst for further learning? Or do we believe ourselves to be experts in our field already?

These concerns weigh heavily on my mind.

Please share your thoughts and suggestions on how we can address this issue.

Regards,

From India, Bangalore

Dear Praveen,

I agree with you. However, to help HR professionals understand their importance, many forums are organizing such events. Unfortunately, no one seems to be grasping the significance of these initiatives. In comparison to programs in other domains, the response from members is overwhelming, even when the participation fee is on the higher side.

When it comes to HR events, despite being free, only a few people attend the programs. Even for this thread, no one has replied or shared their views.

Regards,
