Dear Aravind,

I went through the Excel file and found it really helpful. I would like to know what kind of functions can be used in a master file. Is auto filter the best way to filter employees who have left the company? Or is there a way we can pull those employees currently employed with us into another worksheet in the same Excel book?

Thank you.

Dear Tina,

It can be done either way as both options can be used according to our convenience. I am using an alternative worksheet for maintaining the details of employees who have left. Further options in this have not been explored by me until now.

Regards,
Aravind

Hi Tina,

Master files can be mentioned in 2 formats:
1. Existing Employee data - Department wise (for easy search).
2. Ex-Employee data - Department wise (for easy search).

The contents you mentioned are fine; add 2 more options for that format for a better one:
1. Contact number of the employee for passing any information.
2. Employee Company Email-ID for official mails.

I am currently using Aravind format with a little change since we don't have a salary structure. However, I would still like to know how to pull the current employees' list from the master employee database. Do you think VLOOKUP will help with this? If so, how do we use this command? Is anyone ready to help me with this?
