Dear All,

Please help me to understand how many leaves a contractual employee (appointed through a contractor) is entitled to receive in a year. The contractor is charging us at 8.3% of the basic pay per month for leave.

In Pakistan, a contractual employee is entitled to full leave benefits like a permanent employee, e.g., 10 days of casual leave and 08 days of medical leave in a year. However, in some cases, we provide 14 days of annual leave on their first day of appointment until the completion of a one-year contract. I am unsure about the prevailing procedure in India.

I would like to know, is any contractual employee hired/appointed by a Government Institution directly (not through a contractor) eligible for leave? If so, what are the procedures for leave and other benefits? Please provide me with detailed information.
