Dear all,
Please go through the Supreme Court's statement on the aforementioned topic.
My view on this issue:
Intercaste marriages are like medicine to cure the social disease, such as:
1) To save the nation in a different way.
2) To remove the dowry system.
3) To bridge the gap between social divides.
4) To build a common culture.
5) To stop religious/caste conflicts.
6) To produce a high-quality product (baby).
7) To prevent politicians from involving society in caste/religious differences.
8) To eliminate the reservation system (for SC/ST/OBC, etc.).
9) To eradicate orthodox beliefs.
10) To alleviate parents' tensions to some extent.
I strongly feel and support this marriage. I request all members to create an environment for such occurrences. As educated individuals, we can adopt this remedy to cure social diseases (like cancer) to some extent.
Regards,
Sidheshwar

Hi Siddu,
It was good to know that you support intercaste marriage. But when you decide to marry a person who does not belong to your caste, there are a lot of issues to be handled:
- Convincing our parents
- Adjusting to different beliefs (two different cultures)
- Boldness to go against society
- Future of our siblings (they may not get proposals in case you have sisters)
Hence, it is easier said than done!

I kind of agree with what you have to say given the broad scope of matters. However, at a micro-level, even individuals need to widen their mindsets, which coincidentally are governed by the same social norms they seem to oppose.

Hi Sidhu,
Good to hear that you support intercaste marriage. My marriage is also an intercaste marriage (Muslim girl and Hindu boy). Touchwood, we are living happily and support each other's families as well. We had a 5-year affair before getting married. Interestingly, we proceeded with the Special Marriage Act. For social recognition from my side, we performed a Nikah. Next May, on the same day as the Nikah, we are going to his village to perform a puja, and then we plan to have a child.
It's important to support and stand by each other in life and in marriage. Before getting married, only two people supported us. Everyone else, including family, friends, and office colleagues, demotivated us. They always talked about the negative effects of love and intercaste marriage. However, now everything is normal from all sides.
