Safety Committee consists of :
#equal number of management & union/workmen representatives
#safety officer is also included ias management representative
#special invitees are fire safety representative,personnel officer or any representative of other department
Safety Committee meeting shall be held once every month.The minutes of previous meeting sahall be reviewed and compliance noted.

Safety Committee:

{As required under Section 41 -G of Indain Factories Act}

(a)There will be equal number of representatives of workers and management.

(b) To promote co-operation between the workers and the management in maintaining proper safety and health at work and to review periodically the measures taken in that behalf.

(c)The tenure of the committee shall be two years.

(d)Safety committee will meet once in every quarter.

(e)The minutes of the meeting will be recorded and produced before the inspector on demand.

Following will be the right of the safety committee to inform adequately and suitably of –

(a)Potential Safety and health hazards to which the workers may be exposed at work place.

(b)Data on accidents as well as data resulting from surveillance of the working environment and of the health of workers exposed to hazardous substances so far as the factory is concerned, provided that the committee under takes to use the data on a confidential basis and solely to provide guidance and advice on measures to improve the working environment, health and safety of the worker.

Functions of Safety Committee:

(a)Dealing with all matters concerning health, Safety and environment and to arrive at practicable solutions to problems encountered.

(b)Creating Safety awareness among all workers

(c)Undertaking educational, training and promotional activities.

(d)Discussing report on safety, environment and occupational health surveys, safety audits, risk assessment, emergency and disaster management plans and implementation of the recommendations made in the reports.

(e)Carrying out health and safety Surveys and identifying causes of the accidents.

(f)Looking into any complaint made on likelihood of an imminent danger to the safety and health of the workers and suggesting corrective measures and reviewing the implementation of the recommendations made by it.

(g)Assisting and cooperating with the management in achieving the aims and objectives outlined in the Health and Safety Policy of the occupier.
