In simple terms, as you won't like to easily change your habits developed over decades, the employees of an organization having been accustomed to certain environments, processes, culture, processes (may that be in their own interests), usually don't want to accept any change in the organizational culture, organizational structure, work processes, etc., and can revolt against the management decisions to implement any such major change, which can result in to disaster also.
So, any change has to be done in a very planned and gradual manner without hurting the sentiments of employees. In other words, a difficult and time taking process.

Change Management is a process of managing change with in the organisation. This change can be in process, business, structure, vision, goal etc. The role of hr is very critical as a change agent, as he will have to ensure the smooth transition from one state of organisation to another level, without affecting the moral, motivation, value and commitment of employee.
