Hi,
That will depend on your budget basically.
You can always give them dinner vouchers, gifts etc.
But even you can go for digital cams, ipods, or may be a vacation sponsored by the company to any one lucky oldest and loyal candidate.
So , you can chose as per your budget.
Take care,

Dear Rajeev,
First you decided the long services standards means 5 years,10 years,15 years,20 years,25 years,30 years,35 years,40 years etc.......
Then select the awards according to their life spend in this company, the weight of the award should be as per long services.please
keep in mind, award handover at the time of celebration should be equivalent for all and other gift like a cheque/cash could be as per long life in the company.
First distribute certificate for persone in contribution/achievment for company, some trophy or packed gift, voucher, invite for dinner at hotel with their family members etc, tour voucher, educational charges for one child can be bear by the company, employment of one relative to this company etc.....

Dear Rajeev,
You can define service award based on services rendered in the organization. For eg: 3 , 6, 10, 15 years etc...... successful completion of service (without any break or notice period).
Service award can consists of Cash component, Momento and Certificate. Let the cash component vary based on years of service rendered. For example,
3 years - one month Gross pay excluding retirement benefits
6 years - two months Gross pay excluding retirement benefits etc.
Do not forget to budget all this and to put a clause/note in policy saying that: If an employee is found to be involved in any major misconduct, forgery, crime etc. at the time of award due, such employee becomes disqualified to recieve the award.
All this will vary from organization to organization and on budget.

Laks.

Dear Rajeev,
As mentioned by Vineet ,it depends on your budget. Ours is a small sized company and we also had this kind of ceremony last month .We awared them with certificate, gave them a nice watch with company's logo on it as a momento & also invited them for lunch in a good hotel. We did so as our budget was limited.

Hi Friends,

Its actually Memento not momento.:-P

Yes, if its cash reward then may be you can write in the policy too (people read and aspire to stick on to the company so mention it in the policy - funny assumption but blow your trumpet wherever possible:-P)

Then it is the no. of years versus certain percentile of your salary, it is assuming at 3 yrs someone at 3Lakh per annum gets 30000 INR and with 5 yrs at 5Lakh gets 50000 INR. In both cases it is 10% of the salary. Or it can be 5% in 3yrs completion, 10% in 5 yrs completion etc...

Or you fix an amount irrespective of salary, which, one is entitled to receive after completion of the certain number of years.

Do a small get together where you invite families too and give away the rewards..

Depending on your budget you can make it pompous or simple !

-On 1st year completion one may be receiving a congratulatory message,:-P

-2nd year completion gets a special lunch with the immediate boss /head of the organisation,

-3rd yr completion...so on!

Thanks

Geeta
