Dear Connections, I want to know if one employee is getting Rs. 20,000/—as Gross Salary and is registered with ESIC. But if his/her gross salary includes the overtime amount and goes above Rs. 23,000/—, then in this case, what will be the ESI deductions either on gross salary of 20,000/—or gross salary of 23,000/—?

It should be on total wages including the overtime, ie, Rs 23000 in your case, that ESI should be deducted. Overtime wages is not considered for deciding whether an employee is under ESI coverage or not but for deduction of contribution, the overtime wages will be considered as part of wages.
