Hello, I have been working as a contractual employee in the Andaman and Nicobar government administration for 12 years at par with regular employees.
But here recently they have said that we are not entitled to any leave benefits.
So please help us to provide any guidelines or orders from the ministry

Regards.

Hi Ummar-Farooque,

I can offer some general advice on how you might address the issue of leave benefits as a contractual employee in the Andaman and Nicobar government administration.

Review Your Contract:
Start by carefully reviewing the terms of your employment contract. Check for any clauses related to leave entitlements or benefits. Contracts typically outline the terms and conditions of employment, including any benefits or privileges for employees.

Contact HR or Administration:
Reach out to the Human Resources (HR) department or the administration office in your organization. Seek clarification on the recent change in the policy regarding leave benefits for contractual employees. It's important to understand the reasons behind the decision and whether there have been any official notifications or guidelines.

Check Government Orders:
Research if there are any government orders or guidelines that specify the rights and entitlements of contractual employees in the Andaman and Nicobar administration. These documents may be available on government websites or through official channels. They can provide information on the policies and benefits applicable to contractual staff.

Consult with Employee Unions or Associations:
If applicable, consider reaching out to any employee unions or associations that represent the interests of contractual employees in your organization. They may have access to relevant information, and collective efforts can sometimes bring attention to issues affecting a group of employees.

Legal Advice:
If the issue persists and you believe that your rights are being violated, you may want to seek legal advice. Consult with a labor lawyer who can guide you on the specific laws and regulations governing employment contracts in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Petition for Redressal:
Depending on the circumstances and the information you gather, you may consider submitting a formal petition or representation to the relevant authorities within the government administration, highlighting your concerns and seeking a resolution.

Always ensure that you are well-informed about your rights and responsibilities as a contractual employee. Additionally, staying informed about any changes in labor laws or government policies can be crucial in addressing issues related to employment benefits.

All the best for your future endeavours

Thanks
