Hi Priyasarmah,

1) When the management is strict about the timings, they should have been the same with work allotment to employees. If the work alloted for the day is not completed by the employee before his work-time, it is his/her fault of lack of proper planning in completing the work in time. Thus there would be no chance for the employee to blame on the management, showing the cause of his hardwork, which is happened only out of his unplanned nature. So, first of all analyze the scenario closely and make it clear to the management as well as employees

2) Morning time should strictly be followed, which exposes the punctuality and discipline of the Organization. It is common in any private Organization, that employees would happen to work for more time in the evenings, but they come strictly on time in the mornings. It depends on the effective management.

3) Frame a policy, that an irregular employee should fear of the rules for late-coming. Make an employee to appear before the higher-ups, if he fails to come-on time, inspite of the warnings. Issue a memo, mark them absent for half-day. All these rules should be discussed to the higher-ups making for prior approval.

There is nothing to blame on you. You are doing your duty, with prior approval on new framings. Thats all...

Good luck & All the Best...

And also let me know the HR openings if any with your Organization...

Thanks & Regards

Hi,
When the management is strict in office timings, they should pass a rule that everybody should login by 10 am and logout timings will be depended on there work ,but logout time calculation will done till 7pm. If you work more than 8hrs that depends on project(ie. client priority). But one thing should be remembered by management they should give the employee salary based on productivity. So that the employee's and management will be happy.:)

Hi Priyanka
I agree with all the guys who have already replied to this question. As a process you should have a late coming process where they can be allowed to come between 10.10 and 10.20 thrice a month if its more than that then you should have a verbal warning and if not seen progress then a warning letter to be given by the HR
And since we HR guys need to handle this carefully you spend sometime with them and understand why they sit late do they really have work which makes them sit late or do they sit late just for the sake of it. Pls identify that. And again these are mature caniddates if work demands once in a while they have to sit late that is not an issue. They are responsible guys and work should be complete. But if its on a daily basis then you have to find out and if they are short staffed then check with the HOD if he needs more manpowere

Use a police of partially flexi hours instead of full flexi.
1. In time to office should be between 9.30 to 10.30 am
2. Out time should be between 6.30 to 7.30 pm
3. Total log hours should be minimum 9 hours per day
4. All staff must be available if office between 10.30 am to 6.30 pm
5. If somebody is late beyond 10.30 am, mark him/ her as a late comer and deduct 1/2 day for 3 late marks. A person late for more than 5 times in a month, prepare their list and submit to top management for further action.
6. Punctuality is a very important value for any organization and it must be given due importance.

Hi Priya,
Yes to an extend I agree with the employees that if they are coming late then they also extend themselves for the same. I guess what matters is that if the employees are doing thier work without affectivg the productivity line then I guess you should leve it the way it is....considering the kind of fast track life whichw e have we must provide some kind of flixibility to the employees. But if you are very much keen on the timelines then you better implement some policy with punishment for the people who are not followng the ame.

hi Seniors,
Late coming is common on every organization, due to their personal, geographical climate. Based on that we plan our timings...
For your problem, first you intomate to all about office timings.. like 9.45 AM to 6/7Pm. You are not permitt those people who are not staying more than leaving/out time. As well as give a 1/2 chances to the employee in amonth. After that more than 2 late comings it treated as absent./LOP.
We must collect the written cause by the employee, reason for late..
Note: Rules are made by us, for our convinence & smooth running of org". So there is a possible to change.

I browsed all the answers, very sadly most of the answers reflect on IR-mechanisms-- policy, punishment, monitoring, policing etc.
With due respect to the frequent traffic jams in big cities, you can introduce a REWARD for early coming. Request your bosses, project managers to conduct a short early morning review of thier teams at 10:00 AM. This review serves dual purpose-- one to reivew the progress, second to put an eye on late-comers.
cheers

Dear Priyanky:
Late coming problem is being faced by HR personnels in most of the organisation. On one hand you have to show the results to Management & on the other hand -- resistance by employee on most of the policies.
Suggest with the help of Management, come out with a policy wherein the employee will be given max 30 min. grace time for reaching the office and also leave office on time. No employee should stay back unless the work is that urgent. I do not think there is person who cannot finish their within 8 hours. There are many employees - in order to please their bosses-- throughout the day sit with just one work - though the same job can be completed within 30 - 45 mins. and put up a show of being very dedicated, loyal employee by sitting late.
Also you should conveince the management to instruct the respective HoD that it is their duty to ensure the employees finish their work on time and also leave office on time.
regards,
Kalyani
