Dear Nisha
It depends only on the management's vision and working style. Work pressure mounts when management is not organisied or all decision making of all departments depends on the reply of the management. This is because, there is no decentralisation.
Sometimes, Management may try to save money by making one employee to work all jobs instead of 2 or 3. Due to stress the quality also suffers and employee works frustrated.
Sometimes, the load will be more if the jobs are done manually. Hence computerisation also may reduce their job pressure.
Utlimately, you can happy or networking employees when we give them some breathing time often

I tried competition, and got quite a success. I tried to involve them in to such activities, which did not ask for long time and still gave them a breather. They felt involved and amused. I used to send them using intranet small games like puzzles or riddles to solve. The first all correct entry would get a Chai & Samosa. And they started taking each other's help to win turn-by-turn.
I called it 'morning workout for the brain. And they look forward to my emails first thing in the morning when they open their mailbox.
This may sound absurd, but it worked!
My organization is being looked upon with envy by neighbors as a workplace with fun & joy.
