Inspiring Story Promoting Inclusivity and Empathy - CiteHR

Two Choices:

What would you do? You make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: 'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything

Hi Amol, really touching, thought-inspiring, and very true to reality. I am actually not finding the right word to describe this message of yours. Maybe no words can express the sentiments. I will definitely do my bit. Thank you for sharing :)

Hi Amol,

Indeed, an emotional story! But pondering over it, I feel happy as Shay at least found people who understood and gave him a fair chance despite knowing his physical as well as psychological inabilities. The same goes for parents too - very loving and caring parents.

Reality, however, is a bit darker and contrary to this. Parents fear social rejection and are bogged down by many reasons, and we, the so-called "educated" class (no offense to anyone, it's true for most - exceptions might be there) get into the "labeling business," forgetting about playing or mingling with that person at a social level.

I appreciate the characters in the story who gave Shay a chance in his "lifetime" to experience some pride.

I believe that we must relate to the story by sensitizing ourselves towards everyone, regardless of mental or physical capability, be a true "human," and develop an empathetic attitude. When all are creations of God, who are we to differentiate?

Nonetheless, I have also forwarded this to my near and dear ones.

Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful story.

Dear Amol,

One more request, if I can make one... please post such topics either in "day life" or "Motivation". The forum "Humour" does not do justice to such a beautiful story! I hope you will agree with me on this. What do you say?

Hello Amol,

The story is mind-blowing and very inspiring. The character of Shay is beautifully depicted, and the only way to educate people on humanity is through these small, inspiring stories. This story has a lot of meaning! Thanks for sending!!
