Hi Venugopal If your employer come under the purview of shops and establishment act then compulsorily you need to follow leaves as stipulated by the Act.

Dear Lakshminarayanan,

Thank you for your input. The organization is categorized under the Karnataka S&E Act, which mentions SL as 12 (During the first twelve months of continuous service), Earned / Privileged Leave as 18 with a maximum carry forward of 30 days, and CL as NA.

1. Can the leaves be maintained under one category, or do PL and SL need to be maintained separately?

Please let me know if you need any further clarification.

Thank you.

You have to follow the act since your organisation is covered under shops and establishments act
