Hi, is partial travel applicable to claim LTA? For example, if I travel from Chennai to Kochi and then to the Maldives, and return via the same route, from the Maldives to Kochi and then back to Chennai, can I claim the travel from Chennai to Kochi and Kochi to Chennai under LTA?

Thanks a lot!

If you mean to say that by traveling to the Maldives, your actual travel cost exceeded your permitted limits and you want to reduce it to permissible limits, you can do so. Alternatively, you can show the entire expenses and claim only the permitted amount.

As far as i know, overseas travel expenses are not allowed in LTA. So, i want to know, if i can claim only the India travel cost?

There are two aspects to your query. One is the claim part, as suggested by Madhu. The other is the I.T. Exemption part. You can't claim overseas travel expenses, but only domestic travel. Tax exemption is given on LTA to promote domestic tourism.
