Hi Anu,

Basically, competency is a technical term that refers to skill effectiveness. A person may have various skill sets, but applying them at the right time and place is competency.

For each product or service, the 'area' of the circle represents the value of its sales. The BCG Matrix thus offers a very useful 'map' of the organization's product (or service) strengths and weaknesses (at least in terms of current profitability) as well as the likely cash flows.

Competency mapping is based on the industry category (BCG matrix) and involves the following steps:
1. Identifying the skills (resources).
2. Categorizing the skills.
3. Identifying the need of the hour.
4. Finding the SWOT.
5. Planning the need and usage design of resources (4Ms).
6. Application.
7. Consistency of implementing the ideas.
8. Innovations and finding its risk/comfort.
9. Follow-ups.

Therefore, equipping the strategy and designing the work chart for the objective are the steps in competency mapping.

Dear Ramnath,

Thank you so much. Although I have read many articles on Change Management, an excess of knowledge tends to confuse me. I believe that is what happened to me. However, the way you explained it to me has really made things clear.

Thanks,
Anu :icon1:
