Dear Sunil,
ESI is contributed from both sides - employees as well as employers. It is calculated based on the gross salary per month, with a maximum ceiling of Rs. 10,000 per month. The contributions from both sides are as follows:
Employee Side: 1.75% of gross per month. Therefore, if an employee's gross salary is Rs. 8,000 per month, the ESI contribution would be Rs. 140.
Employer Side: 4.75% of gross per month. Hence, the ESI contribution from the employer for an employee with a gross salary of Rs. 8,000 would be Rs. 380.
PF is also contributed from both sides at a rate of 12% of the basic salary only. Out of the employer's 12% contribution, 8.33% goes to the Pension Fund, and the remaining 3.67% goes to the PF fund.
ESIC challans are to be deposited every month on or before the 21st of the month, while returns are submitted half-yearly along with copies of the deposited challans.

Amit Seth.

Please help me to know the professional job responsibilities of an HR Manager, as I have joined an overseas recruitment company recently as an HR Manager. Here, I do not find any chances to grow professionally, as I am only handling the resourcing aspect, which means only the title but no real responsibilities. I am so confused and eager to grow. I have heard that an HR Manager has to take care of various responsibilities such as payroll, PF, and ESI. Could you please explain the complete responsibilities of an HR Manager? I would really appreciate your help in this regard. :(
