Hello Everyone,
I\'m posting this inquiry for a friend of mine. She has a cumulative work experience of over 12 years. Her career began with a small firm where she was employed from September 2011 to September 2013. She possesses an offer letter, salary slips, and a promotion letter from this company, but is missing a relieving letter. It\'s important to note that this is not an isolated case; other team members who were employed during the same period also did not receive relieving letters. For all subsequent employers, which were also small organizations with a maximum team size of 50, she has the complete set of required documents. She\'s concerned about how this might affect background verification if she applies to a larger organization.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

For a good and genuine employer with positive thinking the non availability of the first relieving letter will not make the background verification negative. Obviously, the employee, at the time of joining the current establishment, should have given explanation to the HR person who did the induction or joining formalities that it is not available. Then the same would be available as an endorsement. Then the background verification agency has no role in it. They can also skip it.
The report of the background verification agency is a tool in the hands of the HR / Management just to avoid giving confirmation to a bad employee only. If the employee is performing well, his presence in the office is important to the employer, then he will just scrap the report forever. But, at the same time, if he is not performing, the management will prefer to take the report and on the basis of the report the employee will be harassed or terminated. On thing is important, it is after undergoing a process of joining formalities that an employee joins the organisation and during this process, the HR person would ask to produce certificates, and if any certificate in support of any experience is not available, he should reject him/ or hold the joining till the certificate is submitted. Without doing so, if the HR has permitted the employee to join and work, and in a latter day, if he is fired on the basis of background verification he should fight against that HR and the Company. The Labour department will assist him to get justice to him.

(Fact Checked)-Your advice is generally correct. However, it's important to note that not all employers may overlook a missing relieving letter, even with good performance. (1 Acknowledge point)
