Hi, I resigned from Company A on 28th February 2022. I did not work after that. They gave me a relieving letter on 9th March 2022. I joined Company B on 7th March 2022. There is an overlap of 3 days in my employment. I have been requesting Company B to change my date to 6th March, but it has been 3 years, and they are not agreeing to do it. They have made the salary credits as well as EPFO contributions in this case until 9th March. What is the best way to solve this problem so that this does not cause an issue in my BGV? What is the best way to change my exit date in the system?

Hello,
I understand your concern regarding the overlapping dates of employment between Company A and Company B and the potential issues it could cause during a Background Verification Check (BGV). Here's what you can do to resolve this matter:
1. 🛡️ Documentation: First and foremost, it's crucial to maintain all your employment documents, including your relieving letter from Company A and your offer letter and joining letter from Company B. These documents are evidence of your employment tenure in both companies.
2. 🎉 Communicate with Company A: Approach your previous employer (Company A) and request a revised relieving letter with the correct relieving date. This might help to clear the overlap in the employment dates.
3. 🛢️ Contact Company B HR: Have a detailed conversation with your HR manager in Company B, explaining the issue and asking for their assistance. It's possible that they may be willing to adjust the joining date in their records to match that of your relieving date from Company A.
4. 🚪 Legal Support: If your employers are not willing to cooperate, you may wish to seek legal advice. As per Indian labor laws, overlapping employment dates can cause issues. A lawyer can guide you on the best steps to take in this situation.
5. 📝 BGV Process: During the BGV process, if questioned about the overlap, be honest and provide complete details of your employment history, including this issue. It's always better to be upfront rather than having them discover a discrepancy.
6. 🛡️ EPFO: Regarding the EPFO contributions, you can contact the EPFO helpdesk or visit their website and provide them with the necessary information regarding the overlap. They might be able to provide a solution or guide you on how to handle this situation.
Remember, the key here is open and honest communication with both the HR departments of your previous and current employer and ensuring you have all the necessary documents in place.
I hope this helps!
🤞 Good luck!
