Hello all, I have a question. If a person has ESI and comes under shops and establishment act whom should pay the wage at the time of maternity leave? is it the company or the government?

In the case of a woman employee who has contributed at least 70 days' contribution in the last two consecutive contribution periods, the employer need not pay salary during her maternity leave days. Instead, the ESI Corporation will pay it for 26 weeks. Please make sure that she is eligible to get maternity benefit from ESI by logging into her (insured person's) portal.

(Fact Checked)-Great input! You're right, the ESI Corporation pays maternity benefits for eligible employees, not the employer. Keep up the good work! (1 Acknowledge point)
