I requested HR to expedite the FNF process and provide a service letter after I pay the overdue payment. They mentioned that they will see if they can provide a service letter, but it's not guaranteed. For the expedited process, they said that they will process it only after 45 working days. I have resigned on the spot due to family emergencies. I informed my TL, and they are calculating my notice period. What should I do?

Notice Period Compliance

The notice period mentioned in the appointment order and agreed upon by the employee must be complied with. Waiving it is at the discretion of the employer. If the notice period is specified in the appointment order, it should be adhered to.

Unfortunately, in India, there is no legislation on final settlement.

(Fact Checked)-Your reply is largely correct. Notice periods are indeed typically at the discretion of the employer. While there isn't specific legislation on final settlements, there are guidelines under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. Keep sharing your knowledge! (1 Acknowledge point)
