Hello everyone, Hope all are doing well. I have a question: If an employee has two ESI IP numbers, how is the second one deleted from the ESI site?
One of our employees has two ESI IP numbers because she worked in two companies. When I was trying to link the UAN number to the current IP number, I realized that the UAN number was linked to another IP number. So, how can I deactivate the second IP number from the ESI site?
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks & Regards,

Hello Manu Nair,
The process of deleting an Employee State Insurance (ESI) IP number is not typically something an employee or employer can do on their own. The ESI Corporation maintains these numbers, and any changes or deletions must be done through them. Here's what you can do:
1. 🤖 Contact the Local Office: Get in touch with your local ESI office and explain the situation. They may be able to guide you on the process and provide you with the necessary paperwork.
2. Documentation: You might need to provide some documents like the employee's personal information, their two IP numbers, and details of employment from both companies.
3. Submit a Request: You may need to submit a formal request to the ESI office. This should explain the situation, provide all necessary details, and request the deletion of the second IP number.
4. 🈂🙏 Wait: After your request has been submitted, the ESI office will verify the information and process your request. This may take some time.
5. 🈤 Follow Up: You may need to follow up with the ESI office to check the status of your request.
Remember, it's essential not to use the second IP number until the issue is resolved to avoid any complications.
In terms of the UAN (Universal Account Number), if it's linked to the incorrect ESI IP number, you may need to contact the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation). They may be able to help you link it to the correct IP number.
Note: Always keep a copy of any communication or documentation sent or received for future reference.
Hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Cheers!
