Understanding Weekly Off Rule, Absenteeism Impact on Wage Calculation - CiteHR

Madhu.T.K sir,

There is a fixed weekly off rotational calendar made by the operation department for each workman working in 3 shifts under a contractor in a factory. In the month of August, if the said workman was absent on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and then continued his duty on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the operation department has allowed a weekly off on Sunday. However, he has worked a total of 22 days in the said month. The total payable days shown in his wage register are as follows: Total days worked 22 + 4 days weekly off (including his calendar weekly off) + 1 national holiday = Total 27 days, and LOP is 4 days.

Query: Is he eligible to get a weekly off, i.e., "Sunday," where he was absent for 3 days and worked the next three days just before the weekly off (i.e., Sunday)?

Awaiting your advice

Presuming the employee is to be paid on a monthly basis (not on a daily wage basis), the calculation of the Operations Department is correct. The weekly off is sandwiched between two working days and is hence payable.
