If a person has worked as a contractual employee in the organization and later got appointed as a permanent employee, how will the gratuity be calculated? Will he get the gratuity for the complete length of service (contractual + permanent) or in separate portions?

Hi, For the purpose of gratuity calculation, the Date of Joining (DOJ) of the employee can be considered from the contract role. In the same company, considering the loyalty of the employee, his/her actual DOJ can be taken into account.

Not only from the point of view loyalty but legally the Fixed Term Contract period should qualify for gratuity.
