Dear Members, recently, one employee's salary was kept on hold due to an issue in PF Aadhaar verification, affecting his PF contribution. In this situation, does the employer have the right to hold the salary for the above-mentioned reason? Is it valid while responding to or facing issues in connection with it?

The salary of an employee cannot be kept on hold on such grounds, but many organizations do this to force the employee to submit the proofs to verify their Aadhaar and seed it with PF. PF has made it mandatory to do so that we can remit the contributions. Employers think that it's the only way to force the employee to submit proofs quickly. As per law, we employers cannot hold the salary of the employee.
