I need help. I am working with a real estate company of 50-60 people where we don't have a work-from-home culture because we don't work with tools or software. Due to safety reasons related to the coronavirus, employees who are sick are not permitted to come to the office; therefore, they are working from home by following up on pending activities. However, over time, staff members are taking on a lot of work from home, resulting in no deduction of their salaries for absences (and staff members are not taking any leaves either).
Query about tracking work-from-home days
My query is: can we create a system or worksheet for work-from-home days where we can track whether a particular staff member has worked and dedicated their time for the day? This can be verified by the manager so that salary payments can be justified.
Seeking similar experiences
Can someone share if they are facing a similar situation where a work-from-home culture is not established?

Monitoring Work-from-Home Culture
Overall, the focus of your query is on the work-from-home (WFH) culture. The second issue is how a manager should monitor the work done by their subordinates.
The best way to monitor the work is to identify the ratios and costs associated with each department. Once you are clear about the end result, the measurement becomes much easier. Whether working from home or from the office, the deliverables do not change. Therefore, please concentrate on the deliverables.
In your post, you have not mentioned the departments and the type of work the people from those departments do. If you had mentioned it, it would have been possible to give some suggestions.
Your query is, "Can we make a system or worksheet on WFH days where we actually know that a particular staff member has worked and given their time for the day, which will be verified by the manager so that salary paydays will be justifiable?"
From your query, it seems that you wish to have close supervision. However, managers are responsible for the deliverables of the department, and they are not employed to keep a close watch on their staff.
Therefore, shift your focus from people to business, and you will get a solution automatically.
