Hello everyone, I have recently joined a company as an HR. Before me, there was no HR in the company, only a legal adviser. They don't provide an appointment letter to any employee. When I joined, every employee wanted me to give them an appointment letter. How should I convince the management about the importance of an appointment letter to an employee?

The importance of appointment letters

The appointment letter plays a very important role in protecting the interests of both the employer and employee in the eyes of the law. There are many court rulings to support your request.

Make an effective presentation to your top management about the need to introduce the practice of issuing appointment letters.

Importance of an Appointment Letter

An appointment letter is essentially an employment contract, which carries legal significance. If you are hiring someone, an employment contract should be established between that person and you, the employer. When a person joins, their designation, remuneration, place of posting, probation, confirmation, separation clauses, and other terms and conditions should be communicated through an appointment letter. Similarly, when an employee is relieved, they should be given a service certificate as well.

Hence, you may need to convince your management accordingly. Employing people without issuing an appointment letter can lead to significant consequences in the future.
