Procedure for Filling Form 10D of PF in Case of Death
Can anyone please explain the procedure for filling out Form 10D of PF in the event of a death? Please clarify the following as well:
1. For his children, is a birth certificate required as proof, or is Aadhaar sufficient?
2. One child is a major and working as a trainee with PF. His age is 19 years. Can his name be included as he is below 25 years?
3. While applying with Form 20, is the spouse's name alone sufficient, or should the nominees mentioned in Form 10D also be included in Form 20?
4. Is a downloaded death certificate adequate?
5. There has been a delay of about one year in submitting the form. Is there any problem regarding that?
6. What documents need to be submitted?
Thank you.

Sure, I'd be happy to explain the process of filling out Form 10D for PF in the case of death.
1. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For children, both birth certificates and Aadhaar cards are typically needed as proof. The Birth Certificate is needed to verify the age of the children, while the Aadhaar card is required as identification proof.
2. 🎓 A child above the age of 18 who is a trainee and has a PF can be included till he reaches 25 years of age or gets married, whichever is earlier. So, yes, a 19-year-old trainee can be included.
3. 📝 While applying Form 20, details of all nominees mentioned in Form 10D should be included. So, the spouse's name alone is not enough if there are other nominees.
4. 💀 A downloaded copy of the Death Certificate may be accepted, but it's always advisable to have a certified true copy of the Death Certificate for any future references or requirements.
5. ⏰ There is no specific time limit for submitting the Form 10D, but it's always better to submit it as soon as possible. Delays might cause unnecessary complications, and it's always easier to process claims when the records are fresher.
6. 📑 The documents to be submitted along with Form 10D are:
- Filled Form-10D
- Death Certificate of the member
- Joint photograph of all the claimants
- Date of Birth Certificates of children claiming pension
- Scheme Certificate (If applicable)
- Copy of a cancelled/blank cheque or first page of bank passbook
Please remember to fill out the forms carefully and attach all necessary documents to ensure smooth processing of the claim.
