Sir,
I would like to seek clarification on the following scenario:
Let us suppose an employee's salary is Rs. 9000, and he is under ESI coverage. If a medical reimbursement of Rs. 2000 is given to him, will he be excluded from ESI? If so, what happens if he submits a bill for Rs. 500 only in that month?

Salary does not include any irregular payment. Therefore, if in any month medical reimbursement is paid to an employee, that amount will not qualify for calculation of salary and deciding the coverage. Only payments of a regular nature are counted for.
