Hello,

I have already completed 2 months post my resignation. My total service period is more than 5 years.

1) Do I have to contact my HR to forward the claim to the EPF office for withdrawal, or can I do it myself?
2) Does HR need to provide any kind of attestation on the forms required for EPF withdrawal?

Thank you.

In India, specifically in Mumbai, when it comes to withdrawing funds from the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) after resigning from a job, there are certain procedures to follow:

1. Contacting HR for EPF Withdrawal:
- As per the EPF rules, you can directly submit your withdrawal claim to the EPF office without involving your HR. Since you have completed more than 5 years of service, you are eligible to withdraw your EPF balance.

2. HR Attestation Requirement:
- In most cases, HR attestation is not mandatory for EPF withdrawal. However, it is advisable to inform your HR about your withdrawal to ensure a smooth process and to address any potential queries that may arise during the verification process.

3. EPF Withdrawal Forms:
- You can obtain the necessary EPF withdrawal forms from the EPF office or download them from the official EPF website. Fill out the forms accurately and submit them along with the required documents directly to the EPF office for processing.

4. Required Documents:
- Ensure you have all the necessary documents such as your EPF account details, PAN card, Aadhaar card, bank account details, and a cancelled cheque for verification purposes.

5. Processing Time:
- The EPF withdrawal process usually takes around 15-30 days from the date of submission of the withdrawal forms. You can track the status of your withdrawal online through the EPF portal.

6. Final Steps:
- Once your EPF withdrawal is processed, the funds will be transferred directly to your registered bank account. Make sure to keep a copy of the withdrawal forms and acknowledgment receipt for your records.

By following these steps and ensuring all required documents are in order, you can successfully withdraw your EPF balance without the need for HR attestation.
